Butcher Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Butcher Specialist to join our team at Pick n Pay Northgate Hypermarket in Gauteng, South Africa.

The ideal candidate will have experience in managing butchery operations, ensuring compliance with standards and regulations. Key responsibilities include:

• Operate all butchery equipment, including the bandsaw, efficiently and safely.
• Maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the butchery area.
• Control and merchandise stock according to laid down procedures and standards.
• Prepare and break various meat carcasses according to specifications.
• Debone cuts of meat and manufacture mince, sausage, and boerewors.
• Monitor and maintain the cold chain to prevent wastage and damage.
• Provide excellent customer service and handle customer queries professionally.

The successful candidate will have a Grade 12 qualification and be physically able to lift carcasses and containers of meat. Additionally, they must comply with medical criteria required by the OHS Act for the butchery industry.

Estimated salary for this position is approximately R120,000 - R150,000 per annum, depending on experience.
