REPORTING TO: Warehouse Manager
Job Purpose
The primary objective of this role is to implement daily materials planning schedules for all production units, oversee capacity planning, generate KPI reports, and manage procurement activities while ensuring compliance with established processes. The materials planner is also responsible for updating master data on a daily basis, monitoring forecast variances, and providing coverage for the materials planner as needed. Effective communication with relevant stakeholders is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic PlanningEngage in and influence departmental strategy.Monitor and assess progress against established plans.Formulate recommendations and action plans to facilitate the achievement of departmental objectives.Interact daily with team members to ensure strategic delivery.Establish and nurture productive relationships with stakeholders to identify and implement solutions for ongoing improvements.Contribute to strategic supplier engagement by maintaining regular communication regarding trend shifts and tactical forecasting.Ensure proactive communication with key stakeholders.Develop stock build plans considering capacity and raw material availability.
Operational PlanningComprehend and enhance supply chain processes and systems.Recognize internal and external factors affecting demand and ensure they are reflected in forecasts.Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to optimize efficiencies.Identify challenges, trends, and opportunities.Maintain data and systems (Master Data, BOMS, MOQ's, lead times, etc.).Gather information and validate assumptions.Achieve consensus through alignment.Disseminate and publish MRP plans.Monitor and manage plans, escalating supply shortages as necessary.Issue daily plans/schedules for all production units.Oversee resource shift and labor planning.Manage warehouse space in accordance with plans.Handle redundant and obsolete inventory.Foster relationships with suppliers.Provide forecasts to suppliers on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.Manage purchase orders and ensure accurate order placements.Keep price lists updated and communicate price changes internally.Oversee supplier contracts.Conduct negotiations with suppliers regarding pricing.Ensure adherence to supplier splits.Address supplier claims and issues related to goods received and pricing disputes.Send daily delivery schedules.Report on material shortages, including root causes and corrective actions.Drive cost-saving initiatives aligned with departmental strategies.
Continuous ImprovementAnalyze historical and current performance metrics.Understand market and product trends that may impact demand.Implement tactical plans to support business decision-making (6-18 month focus on capacity, staffing, etc.).Review and implement long-term tactical plans.Initiate planning innovations to enhance overall planning processes.
Qualifications:BBusSc / B Com in Supply Chain Management.
Experience:1 - 2 years of operational supply chain experience.
Working Hours:Monday to Friday from 07h00 – 17h00.
Functional Competencies:Sales and Operations Planning.Financial or Economic Background.Supply Chain Management.Statistical Demand and Forecasting Techniques.Strong Mathematical and Statistical Skills.Project Management.
