Ship Chandling Specialist

As a key member of our team at Dante Personnel Cape Town, the successful candidate will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to our clients by ensuring that all their ship chandling needs are met efficiently and effectively.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Minimum 3 years experience as a Ship Chandler is required for this role.
  • The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills to receive and analyze client enquiries, ensuring that all specifications are met.
  • Strategic sourcing of suppliers and products is a crucial aspect of this role, requiring the ability to research and evaluate market options.
  • The candidate will be responsible for obtaining all necessary information to provide accurate quotes to clients, taking into account mark-up and foreign exchange conversion.
  • Following up on quotations and negotiating with clients to secure orders is also a key responsibility.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for placing and administering orders, as well as liaising with suppliers to ensure smooth delivery processes.
  • Inspections of products will be carried out to ensure compliance, quality, packaging, and other relevant aspects.
  • The candidate will be responsible for establishing packing lists and invoices, and ensuring that all necessary documentation is in place.
  • Attending loading of goods and delivery to ships is also a critical aspect of this role.
  • Regular marketing efforts will be required to retain existing relationships and establish new relationships within the industry.
  • The ideal candidate will also be responsible for proposing processes to streamline the Ship Chandling Division, making recommendations for improvement.
