Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and experienced professional to join our team as a Desktop Non-Motor Claims Assessor. In this role, you will be responsible for determining the quantum and merit of segmented non-motor claims by performing investigations, verifying the description of the event with the loss, negotiation (with client, and service providers) and settlement of claims within a delegated threshold and according to contract conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Determining merits, quantum, item identification, buying.
  2. Assess claims by reviewing digital images or documentation received.
  3. Review equivalent replacement value by confirming details on the quotation, contacting suppliers, and obtaining input from the experts or moderators.
  4. Identifying, investigating, and resolving any issues relating to claims handled in line with Santam policies and procedures such as Service Level Agreements, Standard Operating Procedures.
  5. Recommend and negotiate settlement: replacement, repair, cash or claims card.
  6. Authorizing repairs.
  7. Write merits report, recommend settlement details of claim, findings, circumstances, merits, quantum and risk recommendations.
  8. Communicating and updating the client from beginning to end.
  9. Handling the claim effectively and advising the policyholder of the prescribed or most appropriate mechanism for resolving claims settlement disputes.
  10. Managing workload and instructions from system through appraisal notes and documents.
  11. Required to check completeness and correctness of documents and compare collected information to the policy requirements and claim details presented.
  12. Contacting client telephonically for any identified outstanding information.
  13. Appointing specialist resources if required.
  14. Interacting with SAPS, weather bureau or any other stakeholders required to confirm merits of the claim.
  15. Updating the central claims file.
  16. Handling complaints, queries and all interaction with clients, service providers, internal stakeholders, relationship managers, claims committee and underwriters.
  17. Responsible for all Non-Motor policy sections pertaining to Personal lines, Agriculture and Commercial lines.
About You
  • Matric.
  • 3 years short-term claims experience.
  • 3-4 years assessing experience.
  • NQF 4 Insurance Qualifications essential.
