Founded in 1980, our work is based on hospitality, carried out in a spirit of compassion and solidarity, encouraging participation and community, aiming to kindle hope, secure justice and affirm the dignity of refugees and forced migrants.

Our Work in the UK

JRS UK supports refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, working in collaboration with JRS offices around the world. Based at the Hurtado Jesuit Centre in East London, we employ 29 full-time and part-time staff and have around 100 volunteers from diverse backgrounds, nationalities, generations and faiths.

New Leadership Needed

After nine years of successfully growing and developing JRS UK, our Director Sarah Teather is stepping down to pursue new projects. We seek a dedicated leader to develop our strategic vision and ensure the continued delivery of effective services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop a collaborative strategy to address changing external factors affecting refugees and asylum seekers.
  • Foster mutual understanding beyond polarised debates.
  • Lead a team of staff and volunteers, promoting a participative and approachable management style.
Requirements:
  • An experienced leader with expertise in the refugee sector.
  • A strong commitment to our mission, demonstrated through a participative leadership style.
  • Transferable leadership experience, possibly gained in a CEO or executive director role.
