Job Title: Toolmaker

At Boardroom Appointments, we are seeking a skilled and experienced Toolmaker to join our team. As a Toolmaker, you will be responsible for assembling, fitting, and repairing tools, as well as following engineering drawings to measure and mark out designs for tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assemble, fit, and repair tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Follow engineering drawings to measure and mark out designs for tools.
  • Use hand tools such as files, hacksaws, and grinders to shape and cut tools.
  • Operate machinery such as lathes, presses, milling machines, and grinders to cut and shape tools.
  • Use 2D and 3D computer-aided design and manufacturing software (CAD/CAM) to design and manufacture tools.
  • Monitor tools used on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or improvements.
  • Attend to machine breakdowns to identify the root cause and solve the problem.
  • Assist with tool maintenance and compile necessary maintenance and tooling department reports.
  • Ensure the organization and cleanliness of the workplace.
  • Maintain facilities, equipment, and machines used in good repair.
  • Properly segregate waste and reduce consumption to minimize environmental impact.
  • Raise awareness of environmental impact and analyze and optimize existing manufacturing processes and tools.
  • Perform any ad hoc duties required by the department.
Requirements:
  • Matriculation.
  • Tool and Die Trade Qualification (mandatory).
  • Toolmaker Level 2 or Level 3.
  • Knowledge of technical drawing and use of CAD/CAM software.
Skills:
  • Leadership skills.
  • Computer skills, including office software.
  • Strong level of English.
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Good hand-to-eye coordination.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Accuracy.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent maths and IT skills.
