Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior IT Infrastructure Specialist to join our team at Capital Recruit. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the stability and efficiency of our in-house information systems, supporting core organisational functions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Strategic Planning and Collaboration
    • Work closely with network staff to ensure smooth operation of software and systems that support business objectives and processes.
    • Collaborate with executive team members, decision makers, and stakeholders to define business requirements and systems goals, and resolve business systems issues.
  • Application Design and Deployment
    • Design and deploy new applications and enhancements to existing applications, software, and operating systems.
    • Conduct research on software and systems products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts.
  • Operational Management
    • Evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems; develop and implement strategies for improvement or further leveraging these systems.
    • Design and perform server and security audits, system backup procedures, and other recovery processes in accordance with disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
    • Integrate servers, including database, e-mail, print, and backup servers and their associated software into enterprise systems.
    • Ensure system connectivity of all servers, shared software, groupware, and other applications.
    • Document system configuration, mapping, processes, and service records.
    • Verify compatibility and interoperability of in-house computing systems.
    • Monitor and test system performance; prepare and deliver system performance statistics and reports.
    • Configure, troubleshoot, isolate, repair, and resolve customer desktop issues, including hardware and software.
    • Communicate directly with customers via phone, email, and remote diagnostics to identify, reproduce, and resolve reported issues.
    • Independently troubleshoot all support requests and follow escalation policies.
    • Maintain computer hardware inventory and build computers ready for deployment.
    • Establish and maintain positive professional relationships with users.
    • Install and maintain company-stipulated software and tools with correct versions and patches applied.
    • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation.
    • Provide training and mentoring for desktop support team members, including escalated support requests.
    Requirements and Qualifications:
    • Education:
      • Minimum Matric.
      • CompTIA N+ or IT Diploma or MCITP (Desktop Engineer).
    • Experience/Knowledge:
      • Minimum 4 years general IT experience.
      • MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional) & A + Certification highly preferred.
      • Certification in technologies (A+, N+, MCSE).
      • Basic knowledge of IP networking and protocols, e.g. HTTP, FTP, SMTP, DNS, WINS, DHCP.
      • Basic understanding of network services, e.g. email / internet / firewall / Proxy / VPN.
      • Above-average knowledge of commonly used applications (MS Office suite of products, Internet Browsers).
      • Detailed knowledge of computer hardware (Desktops, laptops, components & peripherals).
      • Basic knowledge of Fortinet Firewalls.
      • Basic knowledge of VMWare.
      • Basic knowledge of Veeam.
      Salary Offer:

R35,000 – R40,000 per annum.
