Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Occupational Health and Safety Officer to join our team at the University of Fort Hare. This role will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day management of occupational health and safety protocols, ensuring compliance with companies operational HSE specification.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in HSE operations, with a minimum of 5 years' experience in HSE operations, maintenance or construction. They will also possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, as well as leadership qualities with high tolerance and patience.

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • Supporting the DCM in aligning the EPP with the HSE organogram and appointments
  • Providing and advising DCM's and staff on HSE compliance matters
  • Ensuring compliance with companies operational HSE specification pertaining to contractor management

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A BTech qualification in HSE (or equivalent)
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in HSE operations, maintenance or construction
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Leadership qualities with high tolerance and patience
