About the Role


We are seeking an experienced Actuarial Analytics Consultant to join our growing Actuarial Analytics team. As an Actuarial Analytics Consultant, you will play a key role in integrating advanced analytics, machine learning, and emerging technologies into traditional actuarial practices.



Key Responsibilities



  • Integrate advanced analytics, machine learning, and emerging technologies into traditional actuarial practices, ensuring alignment with business objectives and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with Business Intelligence and Data Science teams on analytics projects across multiple domains, including underwriting, pricing, reserving, product design, sales campaigns, and client retention.
  • Evaluate and quantify the impact and value generated by data products and analytics models created by the wider Business Intelligence teams.
  • Closely collaborate with Actuarial, Data Science, and Business Intelligence teams, as well as the wider business, to explore and scale the integration of analytics.
  • Research and adopt new technologies and cutting-edge methodologies in actuarial practices, including machine learning, data science, and predictive analytics.
  • Present analytical insights and strategic recommendations to enhance data-driven decision-making processes across the organization.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in actuarial science and analytics to maintain competitive advantage.


Requirements


To be successful in this role, you will need:



  • A newly or nearly qualified actuary or Actuarial student making good progress with actuarial exams having passed A311.
  • A Bachelor's and/or Master's degree in data science, mathematical statistics, computer science, or related field would be advantageous.
  • A strong background in actuarial work (preferably in the life insurance industry), data analytics, statistical modeling, and the application of machine learning in actuarial contexts.
  • Forward-thinking, with a passion for leveraging technology to solve traditional challenges.
  • Experience querying databases and using statistical computer languages when managing data (R, Python, SQL, with Cloud experience (AWS, Azure) being advantageous.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex information to non-specialists.
  • A growth mindset, with a passion for continuous improvement and innovation.


Competitive Salary and Benefits


The estimated salary for this role is R850,000 - R1,100,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical aid, retirement fund, and employee development opportunities.
