We are seeking an experienced Engineering Geologist to join our Ground Engineering Team in Tshwane or Cape Town. The successful candidate will have expertise in detailed technical analysis of ground conditions and a strong track record of delivering geological/geotechnical projects.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical delivery and project management efforts, focusing on problem-solving, analysis, and design.
  • Collaborate with other design disciplines to ensure design coordination.
  • Bld and maintain strong client relationships internally and externally.
  • Develop and implement new approaches in solving complex ground problems.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety standards and practices on-site and in the office.
  • Compile safety files before site investigations.
  • Travel to projects in South Africa, Africa, and the Middle East, as well as other countries.

Requirements

  • BSc (Hons) degree in Engineering Geology or equivalent.
  • Registration as a Professional Scientist with SACNASP, or proof the process is underway.
  • A post-graduate qualification will be advantageous.
  • Membership with SAIEG will be advantageous.
  • Minimum 5 years industry experience.
  • Strong communication and report writing skills, along with ability to work with clients to develop new and existing business opportunities.
  • Good knowledge and experience record in delivering geological/geotechnical projects using applicable standards and principles.
  • Experience in geotechnical investigations including data gathering, site characterisation, formulation of ground models, sampling, analysis of ground conditions, and laboratory results, and report writing.
  • Skill and experience in geological/geotechnical analysis and providing inputs into design.
  • Demonstrate experience of working across multi-disciplinary engineering teams.
  • Demonstrate commercial and project financial awareness, including preparation of proposals and bid submissions.
  • Ability to provide mentoring and technical guidance for younger graduate engineering geologists.
  • Proactive communication skills to work with colleagues and other design teams.
