We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Associate Professor in Sociology to contribute to our Department's teaching, research, and community engagement activities.

The successful candidate will have a strong academic background in Sociology, with a proven track record in teaching and research. They will be able to demonstrate expertise in Contemporary Sociological Theory, with a particular focus on African Philosophy and Epistemology.

The candidate will also have experience in supervising postgraduate students and conducting research that contributes to decolonisation and Africanisation of research, curriculum, and theory.

Key responsibilities will include teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, facilitating Africanisation and creative transformation of curriculum content, supervising Honours, Masters, and PhD candidates, and conducting research.

The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to developing an Africa-centred Sociology curriculum and be able to incorporate interdisciplinary approaches into Sociology teaching and research.

They will also have advanced administrative competencies and be able to work independently as well as co-operatively within an academic team setting.

Requirements include a PhD in Sociology, a proven track record in Sociology teaching and research, and a minimum of 3-7 years of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience.

Candidates will be required to furnish three references and demonstrate evidence of established local and international reputation, research, and scholarship.
