About the Role

At Absa Group, we are seeking a seasoned technology leader to drive our enterprise-wide technology strategy and solutions. As a Chief Technology Strategist, you will be responsible for leading the design, deployment, and optimization of our technical products and services in low complexity environments.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Strategic Technology Direction
  2. You will work closely with our CIO and business product owners to define our product and technical strategy, ensuring alignment with our organizational goals.
  3. Act as a single point of contact and manage senior business interface relationships to deliver products and solutions that meet our customers' needs.
  4. Oversee the delivery of products and solutions, assuming accountability for their quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
  5. Apply design thinking principles to develop architecturally sound technical products and services that meet our customers' expectations.
  6. Liaise with cross-functional teams to guide the business on strategic technical choices and ensure effective implementation.
  7. Lead detailed scoping, prioritization, and integration planning for product and service designs, collaborating with multiple stakeholder groups.
  8. Evaluate solutions against our Group Architecture standards, principles, preferences, and practices to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  9. Monitor the performance of products and services, optimizing them for cost, value, and customer satisfaction.
  10. Maintain expert-level skills in architecture and infrastructure, overseeing development practices, and managing outputs across squads.
  11. Design and implement automation testing, continuous integration, and continuous delivery strategies to enhance efficiency and quality.
  12. Foster a culture of self-service, repeatability, testability, scalability, and resilience in our solution designs.
  13. Guide code development practices and processes, promoting complex concepts and developmental best practices.
  14. Effectively manage the DevOps pipeline and associated releases to maximize customer impact and minimize business risk.
  15. Maintain application, product, and service maintenance and optimization as a core aspect of our development teams' 'way of doing things.'
  16. Cultivate senior developers across squads on DevOps competencies to effectively deliver on technical solutions.
  17. Resource and manage squad-based teams to execute Run and Change elements of delivery.
  18. Promote agile practices for effective delivery to business stakeholders.
  19. Proactively engage with and partner with CTO, CSO, SE, Risk, and broader enablement functions.
  20. Set and cascade product and service direction across squads.
  21. Attract, recruit, develop, retain, reward, and deploy a diverse resource base aligned to an evolving tech environment.
  22. Foster a high-performance team environment through self-directed teams, driving performance management and measurement.
  23. Hold responsibility for the right people in the right teams to deliver on our tech strategy.
  24. Manage and apply the organization's risk and governance frameworks.
  25. Demonstrate timely and budget-friendly delivery.
