Job Description:

The Senior Fund Accounting Lead is responsible for overseeing the full accounting function of Engineeringuk’s Funds. This role requires expertise in investigating and applying data to deliver accurate reporting, as well as implementing key internal controls and improving processes.

Main Responsibilities:

Banking
  • Review and set up users' online banking access.
  • Approve payments, including benefit claims, and ensure bank statements are updated and reconciliations are done accurately and on time.
  • Manage cash flow and forecast cash requirements in line with the funds policy.
  • Enhance relationships with fund bankers and manage the Hyphen process.
Accounts
  • Oversee existing system controls, introduce new enhancements, and streamline workflow to mitigate risks.
  • Maintain standard operating procedures, implement financial controls, and prepare fund accounts according to policies.
  • Ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and review monthly reconciliations.

Prepare and review monthly working papers for ledger accounts (GL).

  • Ensure all department systems are functioning correctly.
Investments
  • Liaise with fund managers, brokers, and custodians to communicate information and resolve issues timely.
  • Monitor and control investments/disinvestments with respective Investment Managers.
  • Load daily unit prices accurately and ensure Investments are balanced accurately (ALM).
  • Manage Finswitch process and review ALM.
SARS
  • Submit EMP201 and 501 recons on time and resolve SARS queries.
Audit
  • Plan and coordinate audits for efficient execution.
  • Check audit files and working papers for submission to auditors.
  • Review annual financial statements and provide responses to audit requirements.
  • Implement auditor recommendations and submit electronic financial statements to FSCA on time.
  • Resolve FSCA queries and conduct onsite/desktop reviews.
Valuation
  • Pertaining member data for fund valuation.
  • Liaise with actuary for timely valuation.
  • Implement valuator recommendations.
Legislative
  • Oversight and leadership in Compliance Management.
  • Embed compliance framework and policies in business.
  • Regular reporting on compliance breaches and mitigation plans.
  • Minimise administrative penalties from compliance breaches.
  • Manage performance of Compliance operational activities within Salt EB.
  • Communicate identified risks to relevant business owners.
Reporting
  • Prepare monthly management accounts, cash flow statements, and investment recons.
  • Draft annual budget and track income/expense against budget.
  • Provide relevant information for board packs.
  • SARB and C48 reporting.
  • Ensure quarterly Reg 28 compliance reporting.
  • Communicate fraudulent activities/misrepresentation to management.
Customer
  • Adhere to customer and service provider SLAs.
People
  • Assist administrators with accounting issues.
  • Develop high-performing team through formal performance development and informal coaching.
  • Assist team with queries.
  • Effective team management and coordination of financial activities.
  • Headcount and retention.
  • Succession planning.
  • Leave approvals and training.
  • Training and Development.
  • Innovation, learning, and growth.
  • Improve internal controls.
  • Prepare training manuals.
  • Evaluate staff KPA's.
