Job Description

Requirements

  • Experience: A minimum of 4 years of driving experience is required to succeed in this role. Our ideal candidate will have a proven track record of safe and efficient driving practices.
  • License: The driver's license must be at least 6 years old, and the candidate must be able to provide proof of a valid license. Additionally, the candidate must be above 30 years old to be considered for this role.
  • Credentials: The candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent and be able to read, write, and speak English fluently. Basic tech knowledge is also a must, and the candidate must have a smartphone, either Android or iOS.
  • Work History: Our ideal candidate will have at least 4 years of experience working in a courier or logistics company. This will help them understand the industry and be able to perform their duties effectively.
  • Vehicle Requirements: Although not compulsory, having a personal vehicle is a significant advantage. The vehicle must be well-maintained, and the candidate must be able to provide proof of insurance and registration.
  • Skills: The candidate must have knowledge of route planning and be able to understand customer service and satisfaction. They must be able to communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Responsibilities
    • Vehicle Maintenance: The owner-driver is responsible for ensuring their vehicle is in good working condition. This includes regular inspections, servicing, and repairs as needed. They must also keep accurate records of maintenance and repairs
    • Safety: The driver must operate their vehicle safely at all times, following traffic laws and regulations. They must also ensure their vehicle is equipped with safety features and use them appropriately. This includes wearing a seatbelt and avoiding distractions while driving
    • Compliance: The owner-driver must comply with all relevant laws and regulations governing the industry, including those related to licensing, permits, insurance, and taxation. They must also keep accurate records of compliance and provide proof of compliance when requested
    • Customer Service: If the driver provides services directly to customers, they are responsible for maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction. This includes being punctual, courteous, and professional in their interactions with customers
    • Documentation: The owner-driver must keep accurate records of their work, including invoices, receipts, logbooks, and any other relevant paperwork. They must also provide proof of documentation when requested
    • Financial Management: The owner-driver is responsible for managing their finances effectively. This includes budgeting, invoicing, tracking expenses, and ensuring they are paid promptly for their services. They must also keep accurate records of financial transactions and provide proof of financial management when requested
    • Time Management: The driver must plan their routes and schedules efficiently to maximize their productivity and minimize downtime. They must also be able to adapt to changing circumstances and adjust their schedule as needed
    • Communication: The owner-driver must be able to communicate effectively with dispatchers, clients, and other stakeholders. They must be responsive to messages and keep others informed of any issues or delays. They must also be able to provide clear and concise information about their services and any issues that may arise
    • Adherence to Industry Standards: The driver must adhere to industry standards and guidelines, including those related to freight handling, food safety, and hazardous materials. They must also be able to provide proof of adherence to industry standards when requested
    • Additional Responsibilities: The owner-driver may be required to perform additional duties as needed, such as loading and unloading cargo, handling customer complaints, and providing support to other drivers
