Job Title: Cost & Management Accountant

At BGA Recruitment, we are seeking a highly skilled Cost & Management Accountant to join our team. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for providing financial services to the company by performing various core tasks.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manufacturing Accounting Services:
    • Prepare manufacturing journals and recoveries, finished goods, and raw material journals.
    • Investigate and analyze material usage variance and implement necessary controls.
    • Reconcile and balance the general ledger to inventory stock reports at month-end and make inventory adjustments.
    • Report on variances between departmental expenditures and recoveries.
  • Capital Expenditure Evaluations:
    • Assist departments, primarily production departments, with capital expenditure evaluations, considering payback periods and discounted cash flows.
    • Assist in decision-making processes to determine the financial viability of projects and identify variables that trigger viability.
  • Budgets and Costing Queries:
    • Assist managers in resolving costing queries related to product costing.
    • Review the cost-benefit of overtime against recovery and conduct ad-hoc feasibility studies as required.
    • Assist the financial manager in preparing budgets.
  • Standards, Procedures, and Administration:
    • Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
    • Maintain confidentiality of information at all times.
    • Present all administration and documentation in a neat and professional manner.
  • Quality:
    • Ensure understanding and application of relevant policies and procedures in the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Safety, Health, Environment, and Housekeeping:
    • Adhere to company safety policies and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
    • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment, equipment, and furniture.
  • Budgets:
    • Understand departmental budgets and apply cost control practices.
  • Reporting:
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting for Key Performance Areas (KPA's) relevant to the position.
  • Authority:
    • Comply with company policies, procedures, and legislative acts.

Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of financial principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
