About the Role

The Department Head for Sports and Physical Education will lead the creation and regular updating of schemes of learning, ensuring alignment with PE policies and differentiation for all learners. This role is responsible for implementing coherent assessment systems, overseeing internal moderation, and using data to inform teaching strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, promoting a collaborative and supportive departmental culture.
  • Plan and manage departmental budgets, allocate resources equitably, and oversee the maintenance of facilities and assets.
  • Develop and implement improvement plans in line with the schools goals.
  • Ensure all departmental activities are conducted safely, with staff fully trained and compliant with health and safety procedures.
  • BUILD strong, collegial relationships within the department, allocate responsibilities based on strengths, and support staff through tailored professional development plans.

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Able to motivate and inspire both students and staff.
  • Demonstrate excellent leadership skills to develop and maintain high-quality departmental provision.
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining high levels of energy, enthusiasm, and resilience.
