About the Job

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Financial Operations Manager to join our team at Metrofile Ltd. As a key member of our finance department, you will be responsible for managing our debt collection activities to maximize collections and minimize bad debts.

Responsibilities
  • Policies and Procedures: Ensure adherence to established collection policies and procedures.
  • Collections and Targets: Monitor and manage a portfolio of no more than 480 accounts, achieving and maintaining collections and targets set by company protocol.
  • Average Salary: R400,000 - R600,000 per annum (based on national averages in South Africa).
  • Actively Collect Payment: Perform reconciliations of allocated accounts daily, ensuring accurate and timely payments according to payment terms.
  • Overdue Accounts: Attend weekly meetings with the credit supervisor to review all defaulting accounts, escalating issues through the correct process.
  • Handovers and Bad Debts: Follow established protocols for blacklisting clients, informing the credit supervisor of any liquidations, absconded clients, or business rescues.
  • Credit Notes and Invoices: Check that all credit notes and adjustments are raised correctly, investigating reasons for credit notes to ensure validity.
  • Month-End Activities: Ensure re-allocations of unallocated deposits are completed, journals requisitions are raised by the 4th working day of the new month, and suspense accounts are reconciled and cleared monthly.
  • Cash / Suspense Accounts: Capture bank statements deposits daily, reconcile suspense accounts monthly, and obtain remittance advices for allotted debtors' accounts.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare commentary on top twenty clients each month for the region, assisting auditors as required.
  • Meetings: Participate in regular one-on-one book reviews with the credit supervisor, attend monthly and weekly meetings as needed, and customer meetings.
  • Customer Care: Promote high levels of focus on customer care, efficiently dealing with queries and complaints, and maintaining accurate client information on the system.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and attributes:

  • Degree or Diploma within the accounting field.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a financial environment.
  • Capacity to deliver under pressure.
  • Good people skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines and targets.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Attention to detail and ability to work accurately and deliver quality outputs.
  • Good problem-solving ability.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to work overtime when needed.
