**Job Description:**

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Accountant to join our client's team in a dynamic and rewarding role. As a key member of the accounting department, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on the company's financial performance and contribute to its continued success.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Full Accounting Functionality: Provide comprehensive accounting support, including financial statement preparation, trial balance management, and reconciliation activities, utilizing advanced accounting software.
  2. Pastel Processing: Ensure accurate and timely monthly journal entries and daily cashbook updates, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  3. General Ledger Maintenance: Maintain the integrity and accuracy of accounts, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls, and providing expert advice when needed.
  4. Journals and Accruals: Prepare journals, accruals, and adjustments as necessary to maintain a robust financial position, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  5. Month-End and Year-End Closing Activities: Assist in closing activities, including inter-company recharges and transactions, balance sheet reconciliations, and debtors/creditors management, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  6. Cashbook Management: Oversee daily cash management and bank reconciliations across multiple entities, ensuring accurate and timely processing, and providing expert advice when needed.
  7. Debtors and Creditors Function: Manage full debtors and creditors functions, ensuring timely payment processing and resolving disputes in a professional manner, and maintaining a high level of accountability.
  8. Audit Support: Collaborate with the audit team to provide comprehensive support during audits and independent reviews for all group companies, maintaining a high level of professionalism and expertise.
  9. Working with Credit Team: Assist the credit team in monthly accounting and tracking of loans, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information, and providing expert advice when needed, and fostering a positive working environment.
  10. Liaising with Stakeholders: Establish effective relationships with various stakeholders, including attorneys, banks, municipalities, vendors, and tax practitioners, fostering a positive working environment, and maintaining a high level of communication.
  11. Vat/Tax Administration: Work closely with the Accountant and Tax Practitioner to ensure seamless VAT/Tax administration, adhering to regulatory requirements and industry best practices, and maintaining a high level of expertise.
  12. Compliance: Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, including CIPC, FICA, and NHBRC, maintaining a high level of accountability, and providing expert advice when needed.
  13. Fixed Asset Register: Maintain the fixed asset register, ensuring accurate and up-to-date records, and providing expert advice when needed, and maintaining a high level of attention to detail.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3 years' relevant accounting experience.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and advanced Excel skills.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Prior experience in finance or property development industries is advantageous but not required.
