Logistics Projects Manager - Exports and Imports

Syndicate Personnel Specialists is seeking an experienced Logistics Project Manager (Imports and Exports) to support Outbound Logistics, optimizing processes for a leading Milling company with bulk exports throughout Africa.

Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Exports Logistics Lead in embedding best practices, minimum standards, policies, processes, tools, technology, and enablers.
  • Developing, maintaining, and updating reports to provide accurate shipment visibility.
  • Guiding Business Unit teams with shipping queries and insurance claims to ensure proactive solutions are administered.
  • Coordinating Business Unit operational meetings to support teams and provide updates on logistics movements.
  • Collaborating with Business Unit teams and shipping lines to develop and execute regional and sea freight forecasts, securing vessel space and equipment, managing physical bookings, and ensuring accurate and timely movement of goods to achieve targeted volume timelines.
  • Updating Customer and Sales team on delivery status for selected key routes requiring consolidation, also acting as an escalation point for service queries.
  • Analyzing export data to make recommendations on ways of improvement.
  • Facilitating solutions to improve TCOL and movement efficiency (reducing touches).
  • Working closely with Business Unit teams to ensure KPI tracking is updated in each country.
  • Consolidating, tracking, and sharing export KPIs with Business Unit teams to proactively identify and implement solutions to meet or exceed targets and reduce operational costs.
  • Interrogating new contracts, new routes, and new markets on logistical requirements and optimization, collating information, and conducting trials to ensure execution is seamless and cost calculated correctly.
  • Engaging in regular Service Level Agreement review meetings with shipping lines, warehousing partners, and service providers.
  • Maintaining service levels and rates aligned to contractual obligations.

Requirements:

  • Advanced Diploma or degree in Logistics/Supply Chain.
  • 7+ years' experience in Exports distribution in sub-Saharan Africa - non-negotiable.
  • Proven project experience and ability to take ownership from start to implementation.
  • Knowledge of inter-country and cross-border requirements, including INCO terms.
  • Ocean and road freight exports and imports projects execution experience.
  • Africa customer-centric orientation.
  • Willingness to travel to all operations within Africa.
