Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at the South African National Blood Service. As a key member of our blood collection department, you will be responsible for collecting quality safe blood according to specific targets.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Clinic Preparation and Closure: Assist in ensuring efficient clinic preparation and closure to achieve blood collection targets.
  2. Donor Registration: Ensure that donor registrations are undertaken professionally, accurately, promptly, and in a friendly manner.
  3. Physical Check/Assessment: Undertake basic physical check/assessment to correctly assess donor suitability for donations.
  4. Phlebotomy Procedures: Ensure that phlebotomy procedures are undertaken professionally according to Standard Operating Procedures and in a friendly manner.
  5. Administrative Duties: Perform general administrative duties as required.
Requirements:
  • HPCSA Registration: Current registration with HPCSA is mandatory.
  • CPR Certificate: Current CPR certificate to be renewed as required.
  • Driving Requirements: Incumbent may be required to drive a company vehicle from time to time as per operational requirements.
  • Driver's License: Current valid code 8 or 10 driver's license.
  • Work Flexibility: Must be prepared to work overtime, weekends, and variable hours within the prescribed limits and conditions.
  • Physical Demands: The incumbent will be required to be on his/her feet for a lengthy period, to carry loads of up to 14kg, assist with loading and off-loading vehicles, and be able to climb stairs.
