  • Develop and implement mechanical designs that meet project requirements and company objectives, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Contribute to a safe working environment by adhering to and promoting WOOD Health, Safety and Environmental HSE policies, manuals, and procedures.
  • Prepare and review technical specifications, contract specifications, calculations, reports, design criteria, tender documentation, installation contract documents, and other project-related documents.
  • Lead engineering teams and provide guidance on design engineering standards and best practices.
  • Maintain and update project filing systems, ensuring accurate and accessible documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs support construction methods and plant maintenance and operations.
  • Adhere to design engineering standards and review design documents and drawings from various disciplines.
  • Verify vendor documentation for compliance with project specifications.
  • Estimate, control, and review design scope changes, ensuring alignment with project objectives.
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests and provide input on vendor test documentation.
  • Communicate with clients to ensure design meets agreed requirements.
  • Collaborate with site construction staff to resolve engineering design issues.
  • Prepare project close-out reports comparing design and procurement budgets.
  • Facilitate regular design group meetings within project contexts.
  • Provide timely reports on discussions and progress.
  • Allocate work and support discipline engineers and designers on projects.
  • Contribute to progress reports, highlighting achievements and issues.
  • Provide input on proposals and man-hour estimates.
  • Collaborate with consultants, disciplines, and Project/Study Managers to ensure client objectives are met.
  • Ensure compliance and take initiative on safety and environmental issues.
Qualifications:
  • BSc, BEng, or B. Tech or National Diploma with a minimum of 10 years' experience.
  • ECSA registered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:
  • Minimum of 8 years Mechanical design experience in the mining and minerals processing area.
  • Well-developed computer skills and knowledge of word, databases, spreadsheets, and discipline-related application software.
  • Site experience – construction and commissioning.
  • Slurry pumping experience.
  • Materials handling experience.
  • Mechanical package experience.
