About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Hydrogeology Expert to join our team at WSP Africa. As a key member of our Mine Water Team, you will play a critical role in delivering national and international projects, working closely with critical mining clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and manage key projects, ensuring timely delivery and high-quality results.
  • Travel and support mining clients in Africa, providing expertise and guidance as needed.
  • Conduct field investigations to collect data on groundwater quantity, quality, and distribution, developing plans and supervising drilling, hydraulic testing, and sampling programs.
  • Analyze and interpret groundwater data, preparing reports, impact assessments, and due diligence recommendations for groundwater protection and mitigation of impacts.
  • Provide strategic mine water management expertise, including demonstrated competency in mine dewatering, resource exploration and development, regulatory compliance, groundwater monitoring, and development.
  • Mentor and train colleagues, building capacity and managing projects effectively.
  • Ensure quality assurance of hydrogeology and laboratory results.

Qualifications
  • BSc (Honours) in hydrogeology with an undergraduate major in geology and/or chemistry. A Master's degree is preferred.
  • At least 10 years of consulting experience in hydrogeology.
  • Pr Sci Nat registration.
  • 10 years of previous experience in mining and hydrogeology.
  • A valid driver's license and minimum 2 years of driving experience.

  • Excellent writing and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated history of working in the mining industry.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work cooperatively with other professionals and independently.
  • Competency in all aspects of mining hydrogeology, groundwater flow, contaminant transport, and geologic processes.
  • Slope depressurization and dewatering expertise is advantageous.
