CNC Machinist Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist to join our team at Staff Solutions Recruitment. As a CNC Machinist, you will be responsible for operating CNC milling machines and wire cutters to manufacture components, developing prototypes, and verifying tests/trials to ensure they meet required specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate CNC Milling Machines: Safely operate CNC milling machines to manufacture components with high precision and accuracy.
  • Develop Prototypes: Design and develop prototypes using CNC machines and wire cutters to test and verify their functionality.
  • Verify Tests/Trials: Conduct thorough tests and trials to ensure that manufactured components meet required specifications.
  • Solve Problems: Identify and resolve technical issues with CNC machines and programs to minimize downtime and optimize productivity.
  • Machine Uptime: Maximize machine utilization and minimize downtime to ensure efficient production.
  • Programming Efficiency: Optimize CNC programs to reduce cycle times and improve productivity.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and implement changes to increase efficiency and productivity.
  • Troubleshooting and Problem-Solving: Quickly identify and resolve technical issues with CNC machines and programs.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, and maintain a clean and organized workspace.
Requirements:
  • In-depth Knowledge of CNC Machines: Proficient in operating and maintaining CNC milling machines and wire cutters.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Skilled in using Microsoft Office software for documentation and communication.
  • Knowledge of Technical Drawing Software: Familiar with technical drawing software packages, such as Mastercam, VisCAM, and AutoCAD.
  • In-depth Knowledge of Grinders, Lathes & Milling Machines: Experienced in operating and maintaining grinders, lathes, and milling machines.
  • Experience on Fanuc Controls: Skilled in operating Fanuc-controlled milling machines.
  • Mastercam Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience using Mastercam software for programming and operating CNC machines.
  • Minimum 3 Years Experience Operating CNC Milling Machines: Proven experience operating CNC milling machines with high precision and accuracy.
  • Basic Measuring Instruments: Skilled in using basic measuring instruments, such as vernier calipers, micrometers, and dial indicators.
  • Minimum N3 (and Matric): Possesses a minimum N3 qualification and matric certificate.
  • Understanding of Engineering Drawings: Able to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Basic Understanding of GD&T: Familiar with basic geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) principles.
  • Programming G-Code & Mastercam: Skilled in programming G-code and using Mastercam software for CNC machining.
