The Role

As a Senior Data Scientist, you will leverage advanced mathematical modeling and algorithm development to solve complex problems in sensor technology, improving the software and algorithms that power our cutting-edge analyzers. You will analyze technical challenges, lead solution design, and implement these solutions through hands-on coding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, implement, and ship high-quality algorithms and models leveraging data from spectrometry and other optical data.
  • Apply sophisticated techniques such as multivariate analysis, optimization, and signal processing to enhance system performance.
  • Design software solutions and write high-quality code in Python.
  • Plan and manage the execution of experiments and data collection drives with partners across the globe.
  • Do root-cause analyses on complex problems-to-be-solved, and define hypotheses for the team to test systematically to solve them.
  • Work with a cross-functional team of hardware engineers, chemists, and other stakeholders to ensure the development and delivery of working, value-adding products.
  • Create and maintain clear documentation of algorithms, processes, and solutions to support future development and troubleshooting.

Requirements:

  • Extensive mathematical expertise, including advanced knowledge of linear algebra, multivariate analysis, optimization, and signal processing techniques.
  • 5+ years of experience in a senior data science or algorithm development role, solving technically complex problems.
  • Proficiency in Python, with the ability to implement scalable, efficient solutions.
  • Strong understanding of Linux, comfortable working in a Linux-based development environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to tackle high-level technical challenges and design innovative, effective solutions.
  • Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
