Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Certified Medical Assistant to join our orthopedic team at Resurgens Orthopaedics. As a key member of our clinical staff, you will provide exceptional patient care and support to our licensed providers, ensuring a seamless and efficient experience for our patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures, ensuring their comfort and safety.
  • Interview patients, record medical histories, and obtain vital signs, as needed.
  • Assist healthcare providers during examinations, including performing dressing changes, taking vital signs, and preparing medications.
  • Generate orders for prescriptions, diagnostic imaging, and other medical services, as directed by providers.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments, tests, and procedures, ensuring timely and efficient communication with patients and providers.
  • Coordinate all aspects of surgery scheduling, including obtaining medical clearances, precertifications, and consents.
  • Reconcile patient health history information, update records, and scan documentation into our electronic medical record system.
  • Triage patient correspondence, document interactions, and advise providers on necessary actions.
  • Maintain exam rooms, including stocking supplies, cleaning, and sterilizing medical instruments and equipment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent, with current Basic Life Support (CBL, BLS) certification.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant Program or Certified Orthopedic Tech, preferred.
  • Two years of orthopedic experience, preferred.
  • Three years of medical office experience, preferred.
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records, preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to comprehend and complete assigned tasks, furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to identify resolutions to problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Demonstrated conflict management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic terminology, procedures, and safety guidelines.

Work Environment

The work environment is typical of a physician practice, with occasional exposure to risk of infectious diseases when interacting with patients and/or family members. The employee may be occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
