Senior Legal Coordinator Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Legal Coordinator to join our team at TalentCru. As a key member of our banking sector team, you will play a crucial role in minimizing bad debt and driving business growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  • LLB Degree and Admitted Attorney: You must possess a strong academic background and be an admitted attorney to excel in this role.
  • Banking Experience: With a proven track record in a banking environment, you will bring valuable expertise to our team.
  • Litigation and Insolvency Knowledge: You must have a deep understanding of Magistrate/High Court litigation, insolvency, and civil procedure to effectively manage debt recovery.
  • Team Leadership and Time Management: As a Senior Legal Coordinator, you will be responsible for training and guiding supporting staff, ensuring efficient time management, and driving results.
  • Contract Law and Consumer Protection: You must be proficient in law of contract, law of cession, evidence, insolvency, and civil procedure, as well as knowledgeable about consumer protection obligations.
  • Debtor Accounts and Rental Lease Agreements: With excellent understanding of debtor's accounts, specifically rental lease agreements, you will be able to effectively manage and recover debts.
  • Legal Process and Debt Collection: You must have knowledge of the legal process, insolvencies, and all Acts surrounding the collection of debts to drive successful debt recovery.
  • Settlement Negotiations and Court Representation: As a Senior Legal Coordinator, you will attend to settlement negotiations, prepare for trial, and represent the Bank/Company in court as a witness in defended matters.
  • Rental Legal Accounts Management: You will be responsible for managing all Rental Legal Accounts in conjunction with relevant parties, ensuring maximum recovery to the Bank in the shortest possible time frame.
  • Legal Account Monitoring and Strategy: You must be able to monitor all legal accounts handled by the bank and their attorney(s), decide on action to be instituted, and develop a strategy to follow.
  • Insolvency and Liquidation Management: You will be responsible for monitoring insolvencies-liquidations, sequestrations, business rescue, curatorship, and submitting claims, signing affidavits, and monitoring dividend payments.
  • Non-Performing Book Management: As a Senior Legal Coordinator, you will effectively manage your own non-performing book, exploring, pursuing, and realizing all avenues of recovery to maximum benefit to the Bank.
  • Internal and External Cost Containment: You must be able to manage and contain all internal and external costs associated with the collection of outstanding agreements.
  • Impairments and Reports: You will assist with impairments and other reports required relative to the Rental Legal Book and present at relevant managerial meetings.
  • Write-Off Recommendations: After exhausting all avenues of recovery, you will recommend write-offs to ensure the Bank's interests are protected.
  • Ad Hoc Legal Advice: As a Senior Legal Coordinator, you will provide ad hoc legal advice to the business, specifically with regards to the Bank's Asset Finance division.
