Babylonstoren is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our soap factory team as an Assistant Compounder. We strive to deliver high-quality and visually appealing soap and body products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manufacture soap and body products under supervision, adhering to established processes and guidelines.
  • Continuously improve manufacturing processes through innovative solutions, ensuring efficiency and productivity.
  • Maintain equipment and adhere to processes in full compliance with guidelines, promoting a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Participate in team projects and support other departments, fostering a collaborative and dynamic work culture.
  • Ensure delivery of quality products and comply with good manufacturing practice (GMP), maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Adhere to health and safety procedures, prioritizing the well-being of colleagues and customers.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of a sound quality assurance culture aligned to GMP and the company's continuous improvement system (5S).
  • Assist with hosting soap workshops, promoting education and skill-building among colleagues and customers.
  • Sample raw materials received and products manufactured, maintaining retention samples for quality control purposes.
  • Perform routine pH testing and standard calculations to operate a scale (balance), ensuring accuracy and precision.
  • Monitor stock levels and control inventory, maintaining an efficient and organized supply chain.
  • Monitor equipment and alert senior colleagues of any breakage, malfunctioning, or discrepancies, ensuring prompt resolution and minimizing downtime.
  • Attend daily production meetings, contributing to the efficient running of the department and promoting open communication.
  • Follow standard operating procedures and good housekeeping procedures, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.

Requirements

  • A completed National Senior Certificate qualification (matric / Grade 12).
  • Fluent in Afrikaans and English, with clear and effective communication skills (both written and verbal).
  • Demonstrated competency in mathematical calculations.
  • Experience in this field would be advantageous, as well as an interest in soap and body products.
  • A quality-driven individual with good planning, organizational, execution, and monitoring skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • Action and results-oriented, with the ability to multitask.
  • Assertive, proactive, and resilient.
