About the Job

This role involves designing, coding, and testing data engineering components and features. The ideal candidate will have experience in cloud data platforms, distributed data frameworks, and programming languages such as Java, Scala, and Python.

The successful candidate will work closely with the development team to ensure high-quality data engineering products and services are delivered on time and to acceptance criteria. This is a one-year contract position.

Your Key Responsibilities
  1. Design, code, and unit test data engineering components and features.
  2. Ensure data completeness and correctness through cross-referencing to original data source.
  3. Design and develop ETL's in line with best practices and techniques for data transformation and storage.
  4. Deliver data engineering functions that ingest, sanitize, and join data from multiple sources.
  5. Create data models that meet the needs of management stakeholders, data scientists, and analysts as required.
  6. Analyze and evaluate data product/output to identify and recommend optimizations as required in its extraction, cleansing, and organization.
  7. Identify and pursue opportunities to create or improve organizational data standards.
  8. Taking ownership of assigned work and liaising proactively and collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure quality features are produced on time.
What We're Looking For
  1. 3+ years experience in data engineering.
  2. Bachelor's degree in computer science.
  3. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
  4. Knowledge of cloud DBMS such as Databricks, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, or BigQuery.
  5. Familiarity with distributed data frameworks such as Hadoop, Spark, or Flink.
  6. Programming skills in languages such as Java, Scala, Python, etc.
  7. SQL knowledge, preferably HiveQL or Spark SQL.
  8. Source control experience with Git.
  9. Database modeling skills, such as Snowflake Schema, Star Schema, or Data Vault.
