About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Tax Compliance Manager to join our team at Moore. As a key member of our Tax Compliance division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our tax services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and control workflow in the tax department, ensuring timely completion of tasks and projects.
  • Oversee the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) of the entire Tax team, ensuring they stay up-to-date with the latest tax legislation and regulations.
  • Prepare and follow up on fee proposals to clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery.
  • Manage the Tax Department budget, ensuring effective resource allocation and cost control.
  • Perform new client onboarding and meetings, building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Consult with clients on tax-related matters, providing expert advice and guidance.
  • Manage debtors and maintain accurate records, ensuring prompt payment and minimizing bad debt.
  • Upkeep of the tax database, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Prepare and submit Opex reports monthly, providing insights into departmental performance.
  • Prepare for and lead tax audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Attend to various registrations, including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, Customs, and other relevant taxes.
  • Manage deregistrations and registrations of Income Tax, VAT, and PAYE.
  • Manage requests for dormant companies, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Prepare tax computations for individuals and trusts, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Apply for various tax directives, ensuring timely and accurate submission.
  • Prepare and request relevant supporting documents, including attending to mandatory SARS appointments.
  • Prepare and request relevant supporting documents to appoint or update the public officer.
  • Attend to various SARS correspondence, queries, and verifications, ensuring prompt and accurate resolution.
  • Manage SARS applications relating to tax residency, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
  • Assist and prepare foreign tax clearances, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a Tax Department, with at least 5 years as a Tax Manager.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to work with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to learn different systems and technologies.
  • Accounting background advantageous.
  • Registered Tax Practitioner with SARS and a recognized controlling body.
  • Experience handling a portfolio of clients in a tax/compliance department.
  • Working knowledge of the SARS e-filing website.
