Job Description

The Civil Engineer will be responsible for designing and managing hydropower and bulk water infrastructure projects, working closely with senior engineers, junior engineers, technologists, and technicians to develop innovative solutions and deliver high-quality outputs for our clients.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Design and analysis of closed conduit and free surface conveyance systems
  2. Civil infrastructure design
  3. Detailed design development for run-of-the-river, conventional, and pumped storage hydropower schemes, including energy yield modelling and capital cost estimates
  4. Client relationship management and proposal preparation for project growth
  5. Project management of small projects and task lead on medium-sized projects
  6. Training and mentoring of graduate engineers
  7. Development and management of 3D digital models and associated drawings for mechanical and civil infrastructure
  8. Cross-disciplinary coordination with electrical, geotechnical, environmental, and structural teams
  9. Work with technicians, technologists, and other engineers
  10. Familiarisation site visits and high-level surveying or observation of brownfields infrastructure and greenfield projects
  11. Engineering design sketch and drawing interpretation
  12. As-built drawing interpretation of brownfields infrastructure
  13. Deliverable quality management with a focus on professional report compilation

Requirements

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  2. Candidate Engineer registration with ECSA as a Professional Engineer
  3. Minimum 4 years of experience in water infrastructure projects
  4. Digital modelling skills would be an advantage
  5. Previous experience in dams, hydropower, or bulk water industry (bulk conveyance, pump stations) would be advantageous
  6. A willingness to learn and contribute to the established mechanical team
  7. A strong interest in complex and innovative projects
