Job Title: Repair Estimator

We are seeking a skilled Repair Estimator to join our team at Execustaff Recruiting Services. As a Repair Estimator, you will play a crucial role in estimating the cost inputs for HME capital and repair projects, with a focus on the Repair department requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Utilize technical drawings, specifications, and other relevant information to accurately estimate the cost of steel HME projects involving heavy manufacturing processes, including cutting, bending, chamfering, boiler making, and welding.
  • Analyze steel material requirements based on project specifications, considering material type, thickness, and quantity.
  • Conduct detailed cost analysis for labor, materials, equipment, and overheads to determine project costs accurately.
  • Prepare comprehensive and competitive scope of work documents for projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with client requirements and company standards.
  • Identify and assess potential risks and uncertainties associated with project estimates, proposing appropriate risk mitigation strategies.
  • Collaborate with suppliers to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services, negotiating favorable terms and conditions to optimize project costs.
  • Facilitate and document kick-off meetings and close-off meetings for all repair projects.
  • Maintain accurate and organized documentation of estimates, including cost breakdowns, assumptions, and supporting data.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve estimating processes and methodologies to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and competitiveness.
Requirements:
  • NQF Level 5 in a related field (Operations/Engineering) is advantageous.
  • Qualified artisan (Boilermaking/Welding) training or work in a suitable past position is advantageous.
  • Minimum Experience Indicator: > 5 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Piece part creation knowledge, exposure, and experience.
  • Fabrication methods and input knowledge, exposure, and experience.
  • ISO and OSHAS systems knowledge, exposure, and experience.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Negotiation and explanation skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and time management.
  • Knowledge of technical drawing interpretation.
  • Ability to see context across units and systems.
  • Demonstration of operational initiative and acumen.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft packages and PC skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to walk around for long periods.
  • Ability to interact effectively with a diverse population.
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team setting.
