Job Title: Lecturer in Civil Engineering

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Lecturer in Civil Engineering to join our team at Varsity College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and mentoring students in the School of Engineering, with a focus on Civil Engineering.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Teach and assess students in Civil Engineering modules, including Earth Sciences, Engineering Mathematics, and Civil Engineering Design.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality teaching materials, including online and web-based resources.
  • Provide academic support and guidance to students, including one-on-one consultations and group tutorials.
  • Contribute to the development of the Civil Engineering curriculum and assessment strategies.
  • Participate in departmental and faculty meetings, and contribute to the development of academic policies and procedures.
Requirements:
  • Master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) is highly advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of lecturing experience in a similar higher education role at a tertiary institution.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, staff, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
