At TalentCru, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Risk Manager: Financial Institutions to protect our funding and investments while maintaining an optimal balance of risk within our portfolio. This proactive role involves providing a comprehensive overview of potential risks that may impact our strategic objectives.

We require the successful candidate to provide insightful reporting to our Board and Exco, enabling analysis of risks at both product and portfolio levels. This includes identifying trends, running sensitivities for concentrations, and deviations from expected performance.

This position involves processing credit proposals, compiling Credit Submission Reports, and conducting thorough assessments of base case assumptions provided by clients or client-facing teams. You will also be responsible for ensuring annual reviews are undertaken and risk grades updated, while proactively assisting clients ahead of distress.

We are looking for someone with 8-10 years of relevant experience in a financial institution, preferably in risk management. Your expertise should include knowledge of credit and investment risk, as well as associated risks prevalent in financing transactions.

You must possess exceptional writing and presentation skills, particularly when communicating with committees. Additionally, you should have a deep understanding of portfolio risk management life cycles and measurement of risk tolerance.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with other divisions, assisting in the development of differentiated solutions that meet business and risk requirements. You will also produce trend analysis reports, run sensitivities, and perform ongoing credit monitoring and risk management at a portfolio level.

The ideal candidate should have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and project management abilities. They should be able to present technical information clearly and concisely, and possess good communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide independent credit and investment assessments to approval committees.
  • Exercising credit judgment and making sound credit recommendations within stipulated Service Level Agreement.
  • To assist in enhancing Financial Institutions (FIs) policies, systems, and procedures, and management processes.
  • Prepare and position submissions at relevant sanctioning committees and respond to questions.
  • Provide support, guidance, and a consistent approach and interpretation of Financial Institutions (FIs) credit and investment principles across the full credit cycle.
  • Responsible for independent evaluation of annual credit reviews and provide oversight to ensure these are aligned with policy requirements.
  • Assist Origination Managers in ensuring key and specific credit conditions are correctly documented and properly defined in facility agreements.
  • Support submitting annual review reports and undertaking monthly/quarterly portfolio reporting to relevant committees.
  • Assist in formulating, reviewing, and managing FI limits and/or exposure in alignment with the organisation's strategy, Risk Appetite, and emerging risks.
  • Implement approved methods and ways of mitigating capital allocated for FI exposure.
  • Work collaboratively with relevant divisions to develop differentiated and superior solutions.
  • Produce trend analysis reports and run sensitivities for concentrations and deviations to expected performance.
  • Perform proactive ongoing credit monitoring and risk management at a portfolio level and recommend strategies to keep portfolio risks within acceptable levels.

Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications. The salary range is based on industry standards and takes into account the complexity of the role, the required qualifications, and the location of the position.
