Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Mathematics and Science professional to join our team as an Associate Professor Senior Lecturer. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and learning in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics at undergraduate and postgraduate level, contributing to the administration of the department, and undertaking research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach and mentor undergraduate and postgraduate students in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics.
  • Develop and deliver high-quality course materials for teaching modules.
  • Attract external funding and provide research supervision to postgraduate students.
  • Contribute to the administration of the department and provide expertise in Functional Analysis, Abstract Algebra, Discrete Mathematics, or other areas of Pure Mathematics or Mathematics Education.
  • Perform teaching-related and departmental administrative duties.
  • Conduct research and publish results in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
  • Engage with industry groups, government departments, and research institutes to further the goals of the Department and the University.
  • Provide academic leadership and contribute to the development of the Department.
Requirements

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics and a strong research and teaching background. They will also have a proven track record of attracting external funding and supervising postgraduate students.

Senior Lecturer:

  • Minimum 1-5 years of relevant working experience, including lecturing experience.
  • Evidence of successful teaching at all levels and throughput.
  • Evidence of research publications in national accredited conferences and/or DHET accredited journals.

Associate Professor:

  • Minimum 3-7 years of relevant working experience, with an academic-related profile.
  • Evidence of successful postgraduate supervision and throughput.
  • Evidence of participating and/or leading in a research team or project.
  • Evidence of research publications in national and international accredited conferences and/or DHET accredited journals.
  • Evidence of leadership ability.
