About the Role:

Liyema Consulting is seeking a highly skilled Linux Systems Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our infrastructure team, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining our Linux-based infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and Implementation: Design and implement Linux servers in a virtualized environment, ensuring high availability and scalability.
  • Network Services: Manage and configure network information services (NIS) mappings and automount NFS and CIFS protocols.
  • Identity and Access Management: Administer LDAP/AD servers and manage user accounts, ensuring secure access to our systems.
  • Repository Management: Implement and maintain repository management tools (Nexus, Artifactory), ensuring efficient code management and deployment.
  • Automation and Orchestration: Automate system administration tasks using Ansible Automation Platform, streamlining our infrastructure management processes.
  • Troubleshooting and Support: Troubleshoot and resolve complex system issues, providing timely and effective support to our teams.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with our development team to manage codebase using GitHub/GitHub Actions, ensuring seamless integration and deployment.
  • Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest Linux technologies and best practices, applying this knowledge to improve our infrastructure and services.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Information Systems or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in Linux administration (SLES, RHEL), with a strong focus on system internals, networking, and security.
  • Skills: Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Perl), experience with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ITIL Certification: ITIL certification is highly desirable, demonstrating a strong understanding of IT service management principles.
  • Scrum Certification: Scrum certification is also highly desirable, showcasing expertise in Agile project management.
  • Cloud Experience: Experience with public cloud platforms (Azure, AWS) and knowledge of storage technologies (EMC, NetApp) are highly valued.
  • Ansible Expertise: Experience with Ansible Tower and playbook design is highly desirable, demonstrating expertise in automation and orchestration.
