Senior Procurement Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Buyer to join our team at Red Ember Recruitment (PTY) Ltd. As a key member of our procurement team, you will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing high-quality materials and products for our clients.
Key Responsibilities:- Strategic Sourcing: Identify and evaluate potential suppliers to ensure optimal cost-effectiveness and quality of products.
- Procurement Planning: Develop and implement short- and long-term procurement strategies to reduce costs and improve product availability, quality, and service.
- Supplier Management: Determine and ensure the availability of strategic suppliers for specific specialized areas and evaluate suppliers based on cost, quality, service, availability, and reliability.
- Vendor Management: Coordinate supplier clarification sessions and technical reviews with cross-functional teams and suppliers, and manage vendor data, including supplier names, addresses, and scores.
- Continuous Improvement: Measure the effectiveness of operations and propose methods for continuous improvement.
- Partnerships: Initiate strong partnerships with external vendors through negotiation, purchase order contracts, and subcontracts.
- Market Analysis: Anticipate company needs and requirements by keeping abreast of market and product trends and developments, and negotiate with vendors for the lowest cost and incentives.
- Problem-Solving: Resolve delivery and billing problems, and expedite the delivery of materials by suppliers to ensure timely receipt.
- Authorization and Documentation: Ensure that appropriate authorizations and documentation are obtained for all procurement activities, and approve all purchase orders.
- System Development: Design and ensure the implementation of departmental administrative systems to ensure maximum effectiveness.
- Product Development: Participate in the development of specifications and appraisals of products and services.
- Customer Service: Resolve end-user grievances and claims against suppliers.
- Budgeting: Prepare budgets (expenses, Capex, savings) with all departments concerned.
- System Administration: Administer and develop the online purchasing and stock management system, and maximize the utilization of the ERP package.
- Inventory Management: Review automatic reorder levels to ensure no stockouts and to optimize company resources, and keep inventory levels to realistic minimum in sync with market demand and shutdown periods.
- Price Control: Control and monitor price variances in conjunction with the Management Accountant and Financial Executive.
- Formal Schooling/Degree: Matric, a National diploma/degree in Supply Chain Management/Logistics or equivalent will be advantageous.
- Experience: 5 years of Procurement Management experience in a Technical/Mechanical environment, and 5 years of Material handling experience.
