Carpenter Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Carpenter to join our construction team at Sydsen Group (Pty) Ltd.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Construct, install, and repair structures and fixtures made from wood and other materials, such as framing, roofing, and flooring.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and building plans to meet the specifications of clients and project managers.
  • Measure, cut, and shape wood, plastic, and other materials according to project requirements.
  • Build frameworks for structures, including walls, floors, and doorframes.
  • Install windows, doors, cabinetry, and other finishing elements.
  • Repair and maintain existing structures as needed, including replacing damaged wood, stairs, and other structural components.
  • Collaborate with other construction professionals, including electricians and plumbers, to ensure projects are completed to specifications.
  • Ensure all work is completed with attention to safety standards, quality, and efficiency.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, including saws, drills, and nail guns.
  • Estimate materials needed for specific projects and ensure appropriate inventory is maintained.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and building regulations on-site.
Requirements:
  • Experience: Minimum of [X] years of carpentry experience in the construction industry.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training or apprenticeship in carpentry is a plus.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in both rough and finish carpentry.
    • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and building plans.
    • Strong mathematical skills for accurate measurements and cutting.
    • Knowledge of building codes and construction safety regulations.
    • Physical stamina and strength for lifting heavy materials and working in various weather conditions.
    • Attention to detail and craftsmanship in all aspects of work.
    • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Tools: Must have knowledge of and experience with carpentry tools and equipment.
