Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Haematology Technologist to join our team at the South African National Blood Service.

The successful candidate will perform routine testing functions in Blood Banks, including compatibility, post natal and preliminary transfusion reaction investigations. To check and verify test results performed by Registered Blood Bank Technicians, Registered Trainee Technicians and Registered Student Technologists.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform routine testing functions in Blood Banks
• Check and verify test results performed by other technicians
• Maintain instrument and laboratory equipment
• Provide customer service and support

Requirements

• Overtime as required
• Night shift and weekend duties as rostered
• Occasional local and national travel

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Education and Experience

• HPCSA Registered Medical Technologist (Blood Transfusion) or equivalent qualification
• Experience in haematology and transfusion medicine
