Head Financial Accountant

Principal Class Placements is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Head Financial Accountant to join our close-knit finance team. As a key member of our team, you will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer and be responsible for overseeing a team of 10 while providing coaching and performance evaluations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee the full financial function for multiple statutory entities, including preparation of consolidated Management Accounts and Statements of Financial Position.
  • Handle cashflow reporting and forecasting, managing accuracy of fixed asset register on a rolling basis, and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, cashflow forecasting, and tax calculations.
  • Prepare reports for the executive committee and manage year-end audits, analyze financial results against budgets, investigate variances, and coordinate the annual budget process.
  • Liaise with banks and SARS on financial matters, investigate and corroboration of variances, reconciliation & submission of VAT and PAYE returns, and liaising with SARS / tax practitioner on all tax related issues.
  • Responsible for Creditors reconciliations and payments, review and approval of all payments, and reviewing of Cash cycle & Bank recons.
Requirements:
  • Finance / Accounting Degree
  • 3 - 4 years experience in financial accounting - Leadership experience gained here would be ideal
  • Strong Technical Accounting knowledge, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under pressure
  • Advanced skills in MS Office (especially Excel) and experience with various accounting packages
  • Strong conflict resolution & problem solving skills
