Sous Chef Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sous Chef to join our team at Sydsen Group (Pty) Ltd. As a key member of our culinary team, you will be responsible for assisting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, leading a dynamic team, and bringing innovative culinary creations to life.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Kitchen Management: Oversee kitchen operations in the absence of the Head Chef, ensuring dishes are prepared to the highest standards.
  • Team Leadership: Support and guide kitchen staff, fostering a positive and efficient work environment.
  • Menu Preparation: Assist in planning and executing menu items, maintaining consistency and quality.
  • Quality Control: Monitor food safety and hygiene practices, ensuring compliance with health regulations.
  • Communication: Coordinate with front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service and address any issues that arise.
  • Inventory Management: Assist with inventory control, ordering, and stock rotation.
Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role in a high-volume kitchen.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Fully bilingual in English and Afrikaans with the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse team and clientele.
  • Valid driver's license and own transport for commuting to work.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
