Role Overview
This opportunity has arisen for an experienced Area Manager in KwaZulu Natal.
The successful candidate will oversee stores mainly in Pietermaritzburg as well as in Durban.
Responsibilities include overseeing operations, driving revenue growth, and maintaining high-level customer service standards.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure all customers across stores receive top-notch service at all times.
- Respond promptly to customer complaints referred by store managers and ensure timely resolution.
- Maintain individual and overall sales targets, conducting fortnightly meetings with store managers to review performance.
- Coach, develop, and motivate the team, ensuring succession planning for all stores and positions.
- Conduct regular performance appraisals/reviews on Store Managers, managing poor performance and staff issues.
- Schedule staff optimally across stores, prioritizing customer service and coverage.
- Ensure team members use product knowledge to offer expert advice to customers.
- Maintain compliance across stores to company policies and procedures.
- Ensure high levels of cleanliness and housekeeping in stores and back areas.
- Optimize stock management and rotation, maintaining visual merchandising standards.
- Set up promotions and windows according to guidelines, making them visually appealing.
- Ensure the team follows marketing requirements and cash pickups from stores as needed.
- Manage admin tasks accurately and timely, including stocktakes, ordering, goods receiving, inter-branch transfers, credits, and other necessary transactions.
- Maintain a high standard of appearance for the team.
- Monitor local competitors, recommending changes to improve the store experience.
Requirements
- Matric qualification
- Valid SA driver's license
- At least 2 years of Leadership/Management experience in managing multiple area managers
- Proven ability to lead and influence a team, with knowledge of HR procedures
- Experience in selling in a veterinary shop or pet care shop
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to plan and prioritize, and lead/manage a team
- Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, motivate and drive performance, manage poor performance, and disciplinary procedures
- Customer-centric, computer literate, and able to interpret financial data and make key decisions
- Completed retail courses on leadership, performance management, and current labor laws
