Job Title: Junior Client Portfolio Analyst

As a Junior Client Portfolio Analyst at The Recruitment Council, you will play a crucial role in supporting our Investment Management Team in Cape Town. Your primary responsibility will be to assist Portfolio Managers in managing client investment portfolios, ensuring that clients' specific situations, agreed mandates, and investment teams' views are taken into account.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Portfolio Management: Ensure proper take-on of new clients, collecting FICA and liaising with client service teams. Conduct suitability assessments of clients and analyze client affairs (fact find). Prepare new client reviews and proposals, and oversee client implementation plans.
  • Trading and Execution Support: Take responsibility for ensuring all trades are executed accurately and timeously. Investigate trading queries.
  • Compliance & Risk Management: Ensure client files are properly set up and maintained. Ensure clients adhere to approved fund manager lists, asset allocation targets, and limits. Maintain a record of client advice.
Requirements:
  • Qualifications and Experience: Business, Economics, or Investment-related degree, preferably with Honors. Investment-related postgraduate qualification (or studying towards) such as CFP or CFA advantageous. 1-3 years of relevant experience in the finance/investment industry.
  • Skills: Strong general investment knowledge critical, i.e., economy, financial markets, asset classes, and portfolio management with a keen interest in investments. MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook). Excellent written and verbal communication skills. A track record of overall integrity. Strong attention to detail. Good relationship management skills.
