About the Role: As a Chief Scientist, you will be responsible for overseeing the development of software tools and data models to improve the interpretation of mineralogical data. You will work closely with clients, collaborators, and partners to identify opportunities for innovation and commercialization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute projects that require advanced technical expertise, including algorithm/software development, modeling, simulation, and interpretation of mineral behavior.
- Train, supervise, and technically mentor staff to improve technical quality and turnaround times.
- Stay up-to-date with technology trends in mineralogy research at a national and international level.
- Ensure that projects are executed to meet time schedules, contain costs, and deliver valid conclusions with technical efficiency and professionalism.
- Comply with internal administration requirements, including labour and machine time capture, business governance, and professional reporting.
Requirements:
- PhD in a relevant scientific field relating to the Discipline (science or engineering).
- At least 10 years' experience in data analysis and modeling, directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
- SACNASP or ECSA registered.
- Fundamental knowledge of operating in a laboratory environment.
- Advanced knowledge of research principles and methodologies across disciplines.
