About the Opportunity
AJ Personnel is excited to announce a fantastic opportunity for a Laboratory Research Assistant - Clinical Pathology to join our client, Wits Health Consortium.
Company Overview
Wits Health Consortium (WHC) is a division of the Wits Health Consortium under the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology of the University of the Witwatersrand. They are committed to supporting the millennium development goals aimed at gender equity, maternal and child health, and combatting HIV. Their work focuses on sexual and reproductive health with research being conducted in microbicides, barrier methods, service integration, and contraception.
Main Responsibilities
- The performance of laboratory investigations and taking full responsibility for the results produced as well as the interpretation thereof.
- Shipment and storage of samples to external labs and perform quality control testing.
Key Performance Areas
- Prepare, run, and record laboratory tests results.
- Laboratory administration.
- Quality Control.
- Storage and shipment of specimens.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- National Certificate in Medical/Lab Technician (Clinical Pathology/Virology).
- Health Professions Council of South Africa (Medical/Lab Technician).
- Valid Driver's License.
Desirable Additional Education, Work Experience, and Personal Abilities
- Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP).
- International Air Transport Association (IATA).
- Good Clinical Practice (GCP) certification.
- Accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Clinical research experience will be an advantage.
- Computer Literacy.
