Tax Compliance Specialist

Job Overview
This position is pivotal in interpreting the various South African tax regulations and providing comprehensive advice to all business divisions aimed at reducing tax exposure.Key Responsibilities:
Interpret and assist in the understanding of South African tax laws while advising on strategies to minimize tax liabilities. Offer guidance to the organization regarding the interpretation of VAT, Income Tax, and pertinent Case Law. Responsible for the execution of strategies designed to mitigate tax risks for the organization. Identify and develop tax-saving opportunities and strategies for both the organization and its clientele. Ensure compliance with all aspects of Tax Legislation while maintaining integrity and credibility with stakeholders. Monitor, evaluate, and advise on modifications to South African Tax legislation in collaboration with Group Tax. Provide professional advice and support on tax-related issues to the organization. Evaluate, develop, and implement corporate policies on Tax and other business matters impacting Old Mutual. Establish tax policies for Old Mutual. Coordinate all tax reports required for the preparation of tax returns and monthly financial reporting obligations. Review tax calculations or reports that contribute to tax returns and provisional returns. Prepare or review compliance documents and respond to tax inquiries from relevant authorities. Foster relationships with applicable tax service providers and Group Tax at a senior management level. Develop and implement tax reporting systems, ensuring all calculations comply with tax legislation. Analyze new transactions and products from a tax perspective to ensure proper implementation of tax implications. Provide insights regarding the tax aspects of transactions and projects undertaken by the organization. Formulate optimal strategies for ongoing historical tax collection initiatives. Manage the reclamation of foreign withholding taxes for the organization’s custodian business. Stay informed about all relevant tax legislation. Assume responsibility for any tax-related requirements that may arise within the business.Required Qualifications and Experience:
CA (preferable) with a minimum of 3-5 years post-article experience or Honours degree in Taxation/HDip in Tax. Experience in the financial services sector. Knowledge of international tax and practical experience (advantageous). Familiarity with 5 funds tax (advantageous). Experience in team management is essential.Skills and Competencies:
