Cybersecurity Architect

At the University of Fort Hare, we are seeking an experienced Cybersecurity Architect to join our team on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in security architecture and be able to ensure alignment and compliance with our global information management overarching architecture standards and principles.

The Cybersecurity Architect will be responsible for managing the end-to-end architecture lifecycle, from analysis and design to overseeing compliance of implemented solutions. This role requires a holistic view of the organization's architecture, high-level knowledge of peripheral applications, and detailed knowledge of specific infrastructure and applications.

This position involves analytical judgment and the ability to interpret new data and design/develop new routines in response to these changes. It also involves problem-solving in current and future trends/predictions where pathways and steps are unknown and must be defined in response to changing situations.

The company's architecture & standards review board and the technical solutions review board are two key governance processes that validate new technologies or changes to existing technologies from an Infrastructure-Application-Information-Security Architecture perspective before introducing them into the landscape.

1. Work closely with the review board facilitators to review submissions from a security perspective and seek alignment.
2. Keep track and follow up on all security-related actions and conditional approvals.
3. Enhance and introduce checklists and guidelines for review boards and Project Management Office.
4. Escalate discrepancies to global information management Architects and/or information management security.
5. Project design review:
   1. Perform project-related architecture design review and provide clear direction with the Security team.
   2. Feedback lessons learned into Security Architecture collaboration space for continuous improvement.
6. Provide valued input into Security Architecture function to ensure a comprehensive security architecture framework, standards, reusable security patterns, and checklists.
7. Collaborate with global information management Architecture teams, Application development & Integration teams, and Infrastructure Services teams to set a comprehensive security architecture framework, overarching principles, global security architecture standards, reusable security patterns & best practices.
