Job Purpose:
The Medical Technician will be responsible for providing comprehensive occupational health services to employees, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with annual medical surveillance programs, including hearing conservation programs.
- Provide medical treatment for emergencies and injuries, adhering to national policies, protocols, and legislation.
- Ensure medical waste management compliance for the Occupational Health Centre.
- Conduct vital signs testing for employees, including blood pressure, blood glucose level, body mass index, cholesterol, vision testing, and urine testing.
- Perform administrative duties related to document preparation for consultations.
Core Competencies:
- Thorough knowledge and application of legislative requirements related to occupational health.
- Patient-centered approach.
- Problem-solving skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently.
Requirements:
- Matric/Grade 12.
- Certificate in Audiometry.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in Occupational Health.
- Valid and unendorsed driver's license.
- Advantage: Spirometry certificate, Basic Life Support.
- Professional membership with Audiometry Register - South African Society Occupational Health Nurses (SASOHN) and/or Health Professions Council of SA (HPSA).
