Job Overview

This role involves supporting dental professionals in general and specialist dentistry procedures, as well as managing the patient administration process at Intercare Woodburn Medical and Dental Centre in Pietermaritzburg.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work within established scope of practice and knowledge base to maintain competency level.
  • Takes personal accountability for decisions made and actions taken during care delivery.
  • Maintain a clean and hygienic dental room, adhering to sterilization and infection control protocols.
  • Assist dentist in clinical procedures according to branch protocol.
  • Coordinate laboratory work, including completion of lab slips, collection, returning, and casting.
  • Manage availability of consumables and equipment in the dental room, monitoring economical usage.
  • Engage with concerns brought to attention to provide safe dental practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with policy and legal framework.
  • Prioritize patient confidentiality, dignity, and safety at all times.
  • Ensure proper disposal of medical waste, human tissue, and medicine in compliance with legislation.
  • Report any equipment failure posing a risk to patients or staff.
