About the Role

This Utilities Mechanical Engineer position is a key part of our team at Complement Recruitment, based in eThekwini, Durban, KwaZulu Natal. As a member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the effective operation of our utilities.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical knowledge and skills in areas such as thermic heaters, compressors, chillers, and water treatment plants. Experience in managing maintenance and projects, preferably in a beverage or fast-moving consumables goods environment, is also essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that world-class asset care and maintenance principles are introduced and adhered to (efficient asset utilization)
  • Compile, manage, and control maintenance budgets including capex, effective control of all project funding requests
  • Manage performance and people development within the department
  • Plan utilities availability and planned shutdowns and assist with compiling short and long-term equipment replacement plans
  • Develop and manage quality systems (ISO 9001/2000) in the responsibility area

Requirements:

  • Matric; National Diploma / Degree in Mechanical Engineering & GCC other related Certifications
  • GCC (Government Certificate of Competency) Certificate - essential
  • Relevant maintenance and project management experience, preferably in a beverage or fast-moving consumables goods environment
  • 5+ years strong mechanical experience in the field of Thermic Heaters, compressor, chillers, or water treatment plants or similar preferred
