Job Overview
">- The Senior Procurement Officer will be responsible for procuring non-stock surface materials within the plant environment, leading strategic sourcing initiatives, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing procurement processes to ensure cost-effective and timely acquisition of critical materials.
- This role is critical in ensuring the efficient procurement of non-stock surface materials, which are essential for the operation of the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for non-stock surface materials.
- Manage and develop strategic supplier relationships.
- Compile and administer complex, high-value tenders in mining and processing plant environments.
- Optimize procurement processes to maximize cost-effectiveness.
- Conduct local, international, and low-cost country sourcing.
- Utilize integrated MRP systems for demand planning and procurement.
- Develop and maintain procurement strategies aligned with plant operational requirements.
- Conduct supplier performance evaluations and risk assessments.
- Negotiate contracts and manage procurement budgets.
Working Conditions:
- Office-based with frequent plant site visits.
- Potential travel for international sourcing.
Reporting Structure:
- Reports to: Plant Procurement Manager.
- Supervises: Procurement Support Staff.
Performance Metrics:
- Procurement cost savings.
- Supplier performance improvement.
- Tender efficiency.
- Strategic sourcing effectiveness.
Education Requirements:
- Diploma (NQF 6) in Supply Chain Management or Procurement Management.
- Advantageous: Advanced Diploma or Degree (NQF 7) in Supply Chain Management or Procurement Management.
Experience:
- 5-10 years in compiling and administering complex, high-value tenders in mining & processing plant environments.
- 3-5 years of strategic sourcing experience (local, international, and low-cost countries).
- 3-5 years of experience with integrated MRP systems and demand planning.
Skills:
- Advanced knowledge of procurement strategies.
- Proficiency in MRP and ERP systems.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and procurement software.
Estimated Salary Range:
$70,000 - $100,000 per year.
